Local Logger Awarded 2004 Regional Logger of the Year by FRA

TOXEY, ALABAMA – MidStar Timber Harvesting, Inc. has been selected by the Forest Resource Association as the South Central Technical Division’s 2004 Logger of the Year. The division encompasses an area covering more than eight states including Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the western half of the Florida panhandle. Selection criteria included safety, efficiency, environmental Best Management Practices, and customer and client relationships. Owners Mitchell and Wanda Presley were notified of the selection early in November. MidStar Timber Harvesting has been in business just over five years and maintains nearly forty employees who provide professional services in the forestry industry including plantation thinning, select cutting, clear cutting, timber purchasing, and forest roads construction, repair, and maintenance. The Forest Resource Association is a national nonprofit trade association comprised of six regional divisions concerned with the safe, efficient, and sustainable harvest of forest products and their transport from woods to mills. FRA represents wood consumers, independent logging contractors, and wood dealers, as well as businesses providing products and services to forest resource-based industries. The award followed the company’s selection earlier this year as 2004 Alabama Logger of the Year. The regional selection will make the company eligible to be considered for the National Logger of the Year award.
